Mike was born in Hawthorne California and moved to Madras Oregon with his parents, Ted and Olga Olk, in the early 1970s. He graduated from Madras High School in 1979 and entered the Navy in 1985, serving on the Nimitz and the USS New York City. After leaving the service and returning to Central Oregon, Mike married his wife Pam in 1989, they celebrated their 30th anniversary this last August.

Mike attended college at COCC and was a reserve deputy with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s department for a time before being hired by UPS where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 2016.

Mike loved his wife, his family, his cats, his motorcycles, and his antique cars. He and Pam shared the joy of riding motorcycles and exploring the country. Their travels included trips to Alaska, all states West of the Rockies, and most of the Canadian Provinces.

Mike touched many people through his work and hobbies, he lived life fearlessly, with unflagging energy and passion. His unique and joy-filled soul will live on in our hearts.
